Coach Bill Nees
Bill Nees begins his 15th season as the head coach of the Piqua Indians football program after serving as an assistant to Steve Magoteaux for seven years. With Coach Nees at the helm, the Indians have a record of 114 wins and only 43 losses. In half of Nees’ twelve years, the Indians have won at least 10 games and have set the mark for most wins in a single season with 12. Those twelve win seasons came when the Indians went 12-1 in 1994 and 12-3 in 2000. During his tenure as head coach the Indians have won five league championships and have qualified for the postseason six times, capped off with an appearance in the Division II State Finals in 2000.
Nees graduated from Baldwin Wallace College where he was a member of the team that won the Division Three National Championship in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl. Entering the 2006 season, Nees is only 51 wins away from tying legendary Piqua coach, George Wertz, for most wins all time with 165.
